Urgent Action Needed Now!
Call on Congress and President Obama to designate the Philippines for Temporary Protected Status
CRS, in partnership with the local Catholic Church, is working to meet the needs of 500,000 people in the most devastated areas hit by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Our expertise in emergency response, strong network of local partners and long standing presence in this area uniquely positions CRS to provide aid to those most in need with shelter, hygiene kits, clean drinking water, and blankets.
More needs to be done to help the people of the Philippines recover and rebuild. You can help our brothers and sisters impacted by Typhoon Haiyan by contacting your members of Congress and President Obama today to request that the Philippines be designated for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months.
The designation of TPS would ensure that nationals of the country currently residing in the United States are able to work and to send remittances back to their families, thus helping aid the recovery. It also would protect them from deportation to a nation that, for the time being, is unable to assist them in their reintegration.
In light of the devastation and substantial disruption of living conditions caused by this natural disaster, it's imperative that the U.S. government designate the Philippines for TPS as soon as possible.
